But even before the big opening, there is plenty to see in Grächen. Animal lovers and culture fans should mark 8 June in their calendars. The ascent of the cattle from the valley floor to the mountain pastures has something for everyone. The ‘cow fights’ start in the morning and can be watched while enjoying musical entertainment and a cosy atmosphere.
After the official opening on 15 June, the next highlight is on the programme. On 22 June, the 1st National Mascot Festival will take place on Hannigalp. A visit with children is a must here, because the event has some surprises in store.
The next weekend, 29 June, will see the 7th Harley meeting in Grächen, which is sure to be another spectacular event. From 2:00 pm, you can experience the convoy's arrival up close, the humming of the engines and, later, the live music with a show by Les Bikers. It's definitely worth a visit!
Discover the beautiful natural surroundings during the warm summer days and become trackers on our treasure hunt for young and old. During the hike, it is important to combine the clues, follow the right path on the treasure map and find the right key for the treasure chest. A fantastic excursion that has a lot to offer.
But there is plenty to keep adrenaline junkies entertained too. Themed ‘It's goin’ down', the 5-kilometre-long flow trail attracts adventurous bikers to the mountain – and the picture-perfect view is included. You'll roll downhill on narrow gravel trails through beautiful Swiss stone pine and larch forests and over lush Alpine meadows. Once you reach the bottom, it's straight back up to 2,124 metres above sea level, because after the descent is before the descent.
Grächen & St. Niklaus is a paradise for hiking fans. A highlight here is the hike to Bärgji with a stop at the Bärgji-Alp restaurant. The view of the Matterhorn and the Bietschhorn alone is overwhelming. Combine this experience with the colourful variety of excellent quality dishes at the Bärgji restaurant, and nothing stands in the way of a perfect day.
For those who prefer a quieter pace and being close to water, a visit to Lake Grächwil is just the thing. Enjoy a picnic by the lake, surrounded by fresh mountain air and in direct sunshine. The signposts in the village centre will guide you directly to the idyllic mountain lake, true to the motto ‘All roads lead to Grächner See’. Top up your vitamin D and cool off with the refreshing water of the natural mountain lake. Life is better at the lake! To all fish lovers: every Tuesday, amateur anglers spend their day relaxing at Grächner See.
There is, of course, much more to discover. Come by and see for yourself.
We are looking forward to the upcoming summer season! 🤩💛
