Information
At the restaurant Bärgji-Alp you can enjoy warming delicacies and afterwards strengthened take in a wonderful view of the impressive mountain panorama.
This winter hiking trail is a signposted and generally accessible path and runs mostly along the paved road. However, it is not a through road, only used by residents. Therefore, it is often more or less cleared of snow.

You walk from the junction below the valley station along the gently ascending road through the wintry mountain village. This easy hike takes you to the chapel on the Egga. Pause here, enjoy the view of the fascinating mountain scenery and the Matterhorn. Continue along the road through the idyllic winter forest to Bärgji.
From Visp, take the train to St. Niklaus. There, transfer to the post bus which takes you to Grächen every half hour. On weekends, a direct bus runs from Visp to Grächen. Detailed timetables for trains and post buses can be found at sbb.ch.
