Ultra Tour Monte Rosa

The Ultra Tour Monte Rosa is a 170-km-long ultra trail on a classic European long-distance hiking trail, the Tour de Monte Rosa. The route runs counter-clockwise around the Monte Rosa massif and circles the Mischabel peaks and the 4000m peaks of the Nadelgrat. At 4,634m, Monte Rosa is the second highest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe. On its eastern side, the mountain falls in an almost vertical 2,400m-high wall of granite and ice, the highest in Europe. The route circles a total of 29 4,000m peaks and is surrounded by many more. It is a magnificent landscape!

The Ultra Tour Monte Rosa event can be completed as a 100 mile / 170 km one-day ultra race or as a four-day stage race of 41, 42, 45 and 44 km. There is also a 100 km race from Gressoney to Grächen, the UTMR 3 Passes Ultra.

The complete tour is a good alternative to the UTMB, albeit more technical and wilder, and it takes about 20% longer than the UTMB course. The races take place from September 4th to 7th, the optimal time for stable weather and snow-free passes.
