Light snowfall, tense faces at the start and plenty of racing fever and anticipation in the finish area: on Saturday, 14 February 2026, the Grand Prix Migros stopped off at Hannigalp in Grächen. Around 460 children and young people took up the challenge in the sixth qualifying race of the season, chasing the best time with plenty of ambition and enthusiasm.
Organised by Swiss-Ski, the Grand Prix Migros is considered the world's largest junior ski race. The race series has been thrilling young winter sports fans since 1972 – every year, around 6,500 girls and boys aged 8 to 16 take to the start line across Switzerland. And who knows: maybe the next skiing star is crossing the finish line here right now. After all, well-known names such as Michelle Gisin and Franjo von Allmen gained their first racing experience at this traditional event.
In the 2026 season, the Grand Prix Migros comprises 11 qualifying races throughout Switzerland. With the stop at Hannigalp, the destination of Grächen was also able to be part of this important series for young talent.
The conditions? Wintry and sporty at the same time: compact snow conditions and light snowfall created a real racing atmosphere. The young athletes put in impressive performances – showing plenty of courage, speed and a healthy dose of competitive spirit.
But the race day had more to offer than just fast turns. A varied supporting programme with games and competitions ensured that there was no chance of boredom setting in away from the slopes. The result: beaming children, proud parents and an enthusiastic crowd of spectators.

From a local perspective, it is particularly pleasing that 15 children and young people from the Grächen Ski Club have qualified for the grand final. This will take place in Crans-Montana from 26 to 29 March 2026. The ski club is thus sending a strong signal for the successful promotion of young talent in the region.
The TUG congratulates all qualified participants and wishes them every success, fast turns and unforgettable moments on the final weekend. Who knows – perhaps the next big name in Swiss skiing is growing up here.
