POI details
The family loop starts in the centre of the village of Grächen, passes the Hannigalp valley station and continues on the forest road to point ‘1675’. From here, the route continues briefly uphill on the gravel road until the first descent begins. The descent ends at the idyllic mountain lake ‘Z'Seew’. The small lake invites you to linger and, especially on hot summer days, it is a paddling pool for young and old. The loop continues uphill to the ‘Äbnet’ turn-off and from here on a wide trail to the ‘Bärgji-Alp’ and ‘Jägerstube’ restaurants. Both restaurants have a cosy atmosphere and serve delicious food. On the opposite side of the valley, a whole series of 3000-metre peaks can be seen, with the Barrhorn standing out as the highest snow-free hiking summit in Europe. Shortly after the valley station ‘Grächen Bärgji’, a trail leads back to the starting point in Grächen village. At ‘Titter’ there is the opportunity to ride down to Kalpetran on a varied and flowing enduro trail. Connection to the Zermatt-Visp trail (no. 150) is available.
Take the train from Visp to St. Niklaus and then the bus to Grächen. For regular train and bus connections, visit https://www.sbb.ch/ and https://www.postauto.ch/de/fahrplan
