Information

You can comfortably reach Jungenalp by aerial cableway. The small traditional gondolas hold a maximum of 4 people. Allow enough time at Jungenalp for your panoramic view, a stop at the Jungeralp restaurant, and to refresh your feet in the small lake.

This challenging hike above the Mattertal offers impressive views of, among others, the Ried Glacier, the mountain communities of Grächen and Gspon, and the Saas valley. Here the Valais mountain world shows itself at its best, as this route is one of the most beautiful hikes.

POI details

Start your scenic and challenging high-altitude hike from Jungenalp at 1,975 meters above sea level. With the Matterhorn and Weisshorn at your back, walk past the lake along the Mattertal valley towards Moosalp. The varied route leads you through larch forests, along narrow paths by steep rock walls, over scree fields, pastures, and lush mountain meadows. Follow the trail past the junction to Augstbordpass, cross the Embdbach, walk through two Suonen tunnels, and cross the Törbelbach at 2,050 m above sea level. Along the way, benches are available for picnic breaks, from which you can also enjoy the breathtaking view. Simply always follow the signs to Moosalp. For a relaxed final stretch, the trail becomes wider and the natural path saves you further climbs.

From Visp, take the train to St. Niklaus. There, take the cable car to Jungen.
