Various hiking trails lead on from Gasenried. You have the choice. Whether it's an easy hike to Grächen or a more challenging one up to the glacier gate. A motorised variant is also available. The post bus will take you down to the valley.

At the beginning of this tour, your hiking boots will lead you up a slightly ascending hiking trail. Later you follow the trail through the refreshing larch forest. A section of the trail leads you along the asphalt road, which you leave every now and then in order to cover the metres in altitude via the hiking trail. Before Chäschermattu, leave the road to hike up along the edge of the forest, leaving Käschermatten on your right. If you follow the signs to Gasenried, you will reach the small mountain settlement shortly afterwards. Your path leads you past the chapel and once you reach your destination you will find it hard to tear yourself away from the sight of the Riedgletscher glacier.
