The path leads through the forest and in the lower section over a meadow to the Alpe Äbnet. Right next to it lies the idyllic lake.
From Visp take the train to St. Niklaus. There transfer to the PostAuto, which takes you every half hour to Grächen. On weekends a direct bus runs from Visp to Grächen. The detailed timetables for trains and PostAuto can be found at sbb.ch.
