POI details

Your mountain tour starts in Gasenried and first takes you along the asphalt village road past the chapel until you follow the hiking trail uphill to the left. The trail winds its way up through the larch forest to the glacier gate. Cross the glacial water over a small bridge. You hike over stony paths and lush meadows where black-nosed sheep graze and live in harmony with the wild animals of the region. The lush meadows give way more and more to the rocky landscape. The trail climbs steadily uphill before descending steeply below the Riedgletscher border to cross the stony glacier field. For the final spurt, you then follow the trail steeply up to the Bordierhütte at 2,800 m above sea level.
From Visp you take the train to St. Niklaus. There you change to the bus, which gets you to Gasenried.
